It’s not 4G… #ATTsucks

EVERYONE!!!

HSPA+ is not 4G! AT&T does not have the nation’s largest 4G network!!! AT&T doesn’t have 2000 more cities than Verizon 4G. They both have around the same number of “evolved 3G” cities. Don’t believe the lies!!!

There’s a reason why Sprint CEO called AT&T’s technology “faux G” and not 4G.

4G is the 4th GENERATION of cellular radio technology. HSPA+ is an evolved 3G technology. The ITU standards committee bowed down to corporate money and reluctantly gave HSPA+ a 4G moniker. This means AT&T bought their way into the ability to say “we have a big 4G” network. They even forced Apple to place a “lying” icon on their home screen. Apple has partners around the world using HSPA+, but only AT&T’s icon says “4G”.

If your service is only capable of 21.1 Mbps, you’re lying to consumers by telling them they have 4G.  And the majority of consumers believe the garbage AT&T feeds them in commercials.

And by the way, the highest data rate I ever saw on AT&T’s “4G” network was 7 Mbps.  My average rate was near 1-2 Mbps.

Here’s a typical AT&T Speed Test on their “4G” network over the course of 6-9 months in several different cities…

That’s some awesome “4G” AT&T…

  • 1.00 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 12 seconds)
  • 1.47 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 8 seconds)
  • 3.40 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 3.5 seconds)
  • 0.74 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 16 seconds)
  • 1.13 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 10.6 seconds)
  • 1.35 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 8.8 seconds)
The last 4 are “real” 4G tests on Verizon’s LTE network..
  • 41.87 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 0.28 seconds)
  • 18.62 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 0.64 seconds)
  • 34.49 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 0.34 seconds)
  • 9.12 Mbps download (a typical picture from Instagram/Facebook in 1.31 seconds)
As you can see, the slowest real 4G performed almost 3 times better than the fastest “fake 4G” test.

Instead of re-branding existing 3G technology as 4G, how about you innovate and provide consumers a better product instead of lying to them and telling them you have the better product already.

This post wasn’t really for AT&T.  It’s to spread the word that AT&T doesn’t have the coverage of 4G that it says it does.  It’s lying to consumers and this needs to be stopped.

One last time… IT’S NOT 4G AT&T!!!!

P.S.  To be fair AT&T does have around 80 cities in the US with “real” LTE 4G coverage.
