If you absolutely MUST have Adobe Reader installed on your Mac, you probably hate how Adobe takes over Safari. So anytime you view a PDF in Safari, you’ll have to load an Adobe plugin and slow your computer down to a halt… Yep, Adobe is great at making crapware!
To disable this junk, it’s super easy…
- Open up terminal
- Remove the following files from you “internet plug-ins” directory
123sudo rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin/sudo rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin/sudo rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobeAAMDetect.plugin/
- You may also need to remove them from ~/Library as well
123rm -rf ~/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin/rm -rf ~/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin/rm -rf ~/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/AdobeAAMDetect.plugin/
